Applications accepted until the 4th of next month
Five youth villages to be selected, each receiving 100 million KRW in support
Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province will be recruiting youth organizations to participate in the ‘2025 Jeonbuk Youth Village Creation Project’ from the 17th of this month to the 4th of next month.
According to the province on the 14th, the ‘Jeonbuk Youth Village Creation Project’ was launched to revitalize the region and support the stable settlement of young people.
This project aims to create sustainable youth villages in cooperation with the local community, supporting programs that promote mutual growth reflecting regional characteristics, and facilitating regional exchange and cooperation activities. This year, five youth villages will be selected, with each receiving 100 million KRW in support.
Eligible applicants are youth organizations or enterprises based in Jeonbuk, consisting of at least five members, with a representative aged 18 to 39 and at least 40% of members being youth. Anyone meeting these criteria can participate.
To participate in the youth village project, each organization must submit a business plan and related documents to the relevant city or county. Detailed information can be found in the announcements on the province and city/county websites.
Applications will undergo a first round of document screening, a second round of on-site inspections, and presentation evaluations before final selection. The effectiveness, sustainability, connection to local resources, and the degree of engagement and participation with local residents will be comprehensively evaluated. The five final youth villages will receive professional consulting and be able to supplement their business plans before officially starting operations in May.
The ‘Jeonbuk Youth Village Creation Project’ has supported a total of 20 villages since its launch in 2022. Notably, ‘Sagaksagak’ in Iksan, selected in 2022, was chosen as a Ministry of the Interior and Safety youth village in 2023, receiving 600 million KRW in national funding over three years. It has contributed to forming a youth village community by reinterpreting Baekje craft techniques as eco-friendly technologies.
‘Yeongeop Cooperative Association’ in Gimje, selected as a Jeonbuk youth village last year, provides crop-specific cultivation technology and processing/distribution operation education for prospective young agricultural entrepreneurs, builds a network among local young farmers, and takes the lead in revitalizing the youth community.
Lee Jungwoo, Director of Population and Youth Policy at Jeonbuk Province, said, “We actively support the new challenges of young people and hope that through this project, youth will grow as key members of the local community. We will continue to provide diverse support so that young people seeking new opportunities in the region can settle down stably.”
