Gokseong County, South Jeolla Province (Governor Cho Sangrae), announced on the 14th that it held the ‘2025 Village Joint Meal Service Briefing and Hygiene Education’ at the Dongaek Art Hall in the Cultural Center on the afternoon of the 13th. The briefing was attended by over 200 people, including village representatives, township officials, kitchen staff, and side dish delivery companies.

The briefing consisted of food poisoning prevention and safety education, as well as an explanation of the village joint meal service project. It was organized to strengthen the hygiene management capabilities of meal service workers and side dish delivery companies, and to support smooth project operation.

This year, the village joint meal service project will operate from April to November, with the meal support period extended from the previous 25 days to 30 days for a total of 144 locations. The project budget is 418,176,000 KRW (provincial and county funds), supporting kitchen staff wages, ingredient costs, and side dish expenses for 102 joint meal sites and 42 side dish delivery sites.

In joint meal villages, one meal service worker (helper) is selected to provide hygienic and safe meals. In villages receiving side dish or lunchbox delivery, the village representative signs a contract with a registered food business or village side dish business to supply the meals.

Governor Cho Sangrae stated, "The joint meal service during the busy farming season is an important support project that helps reduce household burdens for farmers and allows them to focus on farming. I hope that what you learned in today’s education will be actively applied in the field for hygienic and safe meal operation, and I expect this project will become an opportunity to strengthen the village community beyond simply providing meal support."

Meanwhile, Gokseong County operated 84 joint meal sites and 35 side dish delivery sites last year, totaling 119 locations. This year, the project will be expanded to 144 locations and the meal support period will be extended from 25 to 30 days, so that more village residents can benefit.
