Public Procurement Service Introduces and Operates 'Idle Administrative Property National Reporting System'

The Public Procurement Service announced on the 14th that it will introduce and operate the 'Idle Administrative Property National Reporting System.'

This system was introduced to discover unused national properties such as land or buildings owned by government agencies and to increase their utilization.

Idle administrative property refers to properties among administrative assets?including public use properties, public service properties, corporate properties, and preservation properties?that are unused or no longer needed.

Since 2011, the Public Procurement Service has conducted surveys on idle administrative properties to identify those that can be developed or utilized and has worked to increase their utilization.

The reporting system was newly introduced to move away from the previous method of inspecting and managing idle administrative properties primarily based on each agency’s self-reporting, allowing citizens to directly discover and report unused idle administrative properties.

Anyone can report idle administrative properties through the 'Report Idle Administrative Property' sections provided on the National Property Survey Management System or the Public Procurement Service website’s reporting center.

If a reported case is confirmed as idle administrative property, the Public Procurement Service will notify the reporter of the result, request the relevant central government office to take measures such as disposal of use, and then intensively monitor whether these measures are implemented.

Lim Gi-geun, Administrator of the Public Procurement Service, said, “The Idle Administrative Property National Reporting System will create opportunities to utilize national properties more valuably through public participation,” and added, “The Public Procurement Service will closely review the operation process and results of the national reporting system in the future to consider improvements and possible expansion of the system.”
