Measurement of Greenhouse Gas Emissions
Reliability Secured Through Verification by Internationally Accredited Certification Body
SK Shieldus announced on the 14th that it has completed third-party verification of greenhouse gas emissions generated throughout the company's value chain.
SK Shieldus measured not only the greenhouse gases directly and indirectly emitted by the company but also the emissions generated from external activities, and subsequently received verification from the internationally accredited certification body Lloyd's Register Quality Assurance (LRQA) to secure objective reliability.

In particular, the company explained that the amount of greenhouse gas emissions generated from external activities requires cooperation across the entire value chain, including suppliers and customers, and that data collection and calculation processes are challenging areas that are difficult for the company to directly control. SK Shieldus plans to systematically manage emissions and strengthen sustainable management and climate change response by closely collaborating with stakeholders.
SK Shieldus is actively promoting carbon reduction activities such as ▲electric vehicle (EV) transition ▲securing renewable energy ▲resource circulation. It has established a mid- to long-term roadmap aiming for 100% electric vehicle transition by 2028, achieving a result of converting and operating 50.2% of its entire vehicle fleet to electric vehicles as of last year. Additionally, it recently joined the Korean zero-emission vehicle transition campaign (K-EV100).
Along with this, since 2022, SK Shieldus has consistently purchased green premiums to use a portion of the required electricity from eco-friendly renewable energy sources. Last year, about 70% of the total electricity consumption was procured from renewable energy, and the company plans to switch 100% of its electricity usage to renewable energy by 2026.
Hong Won-pyo, CEO (Vice Chairman) of SK Shieldus, said, “SK Shieldus is systematically measuring and verifying greenhouse gas emissions and creating tangible changes to achieve carbon neutrality goals,” adding, “We will continue to strengthen eco-friendly management and lead a sustainable future based on ESG leadership.”
