Ulsan Ulju County will implement an automatic administrative phone call recording system starting this month to support efficient public administration and protect civil service employees handling public inquiries.
This recording system was introduced following the revision of certain civil complaint-related laws in October last year, which provided the legal basis for its adoption. It will be operated for administrative calls received by the county office's civil affairs office, 12 towns and townships, and other designated staff members.
Previously, recordings had to be started manually during calls with citizens when abusive language or verbal threats occurred, making it difficult to respond immediately to problems.
The new recording system will notify callers at the start of the call that conversations are being automatically recorded and encourage mutual respect, after which the call will be recorded automatically.
An Ulju County official stated, "We expect this automatic recording system to not only protect staff members in charge of civil complaints but also have a positive impact on smooth consultations with citizens. We will continue to strive to improve the quality of civil service and create a better environment for handling public inquiries."
