Joint Effort by Jeonbuk Province, Jeonnam Province, Gochang County, Mokpo City, and Others
Gochang County in North Jeolla Province announced on the 14th that the 'West Coast Railway Construction Policy Forum,' which will discuss the necessity and justification for building the West Coast Railway, will be held at 2 p.m. on the 18th in the 1st Small Conference Room of the National Assembly Members' Office Building.

This forum is jointly hosted and organized by National Assembly members Yoon Junbyung, Shin Youngdae, Lee Wontaeck, Kim Wonyi, Lee Gaeho, and Seo Samseok, as well as local governments including Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province, Jeollanam-do, Gochang County, Gunsan City, Buan County, Mokpo City, Hampyeong County, and Yeonggwang County.
The forum, held under the theme of strategic measures for including the West Coast Railway route in the 5th National Railway Network Construction Plan, will feature in-depth discussions with railway experts and local stakeholders.
Professor Kim Jinhui of Yonsei University will give a keynote presentation explaining the national value and necessity of the West Coast Railway, followed by a panel discussion where officials and experts from Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province and Jeollanam-do will share various opinions.
About 100 key figures, including constituency and local National Assembly members, the governor of Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province, the governor of Jeollanam-do, and local residents, are expected to attend.
This forum aims to inform the government and related agencies of the validity and value of constructing the West Coast Railway and to urge policy decisions. It is expected to serve as an important opportunity to highlight the significance of the West Coast Railway and to ensure its inclusion in the 5th National Railway Network Construction Plan.
