NH Nonghyup Bank announced on the 14th that it purchased 2,886 tons of 'Agricultural Sector Carbon Emission Rights' from five farms to support greenhouse gas reduction.
'Agricultural Sector Carbon Emission Rights' is a project where farmers or agricultural management entities apply low-carbon agricultural technologies to reduce greenhouse gases and trade the reduction results in the emission rights market.
Since last year, Nonghyup Bank has supported the certification costs for farmers' reduction achievements and purchased 1,419 tons of emission rights. These emission rights are planned to be used to offset emission allowances when the greenhouse gas target management system is restructured in the future.
Kang Tae-young, President of Nonghyup Bank, said, "We are actively supporting greenhouse gas reduction projects to promote sustainable agriculture and rural areas and increase farmers' income," adding, "We will also strengthen products and services for the transition to a low-carbon economy."
