Samsung Electronics Ranks 1st in Clarivate's 'Top 100 Global Innovative Companies 2025' Yonhap News

Samsung Electronics took the top spot in the 'Global Top 100 Innovative Companies 2025' announced by the global market research firm 'Clarivate(Clarivate)'.


According to industry sources on the 13th, Clarivate comprehensively evaluated the technological capabilities, research and development (R&D) achievements, and intellectual property (IP) management of companies worldwide and selected 100 companies from 11 countries as innovative companies.


With this first-place selection, Samsung Electronics has been listed for 12 consecutive years since 2012. In South Korea, a total of eight companies, including Samsung Electronics, were selected. LG Chem (7th) and LG Electronics (11th) ranked in the upper tier, while Hyundai Motor Company (16th) and Kia Motors (20th) were also included within the top 20. SK Hynix ranked 19th, Samsung SDI ranked 74th, and Samsung Electro-Mechanics entered the list for the first time, taking 29th place.


By country, Japan produced the most innovative companies with 33, followed by the United States (18), Taiwan (13), Germany (8), France (7), and China (6). Notably, Chinese companies showed remarkable progress, with Tencent (2nd), Huawei (9th), and BOE (12th) ranking high, and battery manufacturer CATL entered the list for the first time at 91st place.


Among Japanese companies, Canon, Toyota, and Epson ranked 3rd to 6th, and Sony was placed 17th. The world's largest foundry company TSMC ranked 18th, and the U.S. semiconductor company Micron, which had been excluded from the list since 2020, successfully re-entered this year at 72nd place.
