Gyeonggi Yangju City (Mayor Kang Su-hyun) announced on the 13th that it has independently developed the 'Serious Accident Smart System,' reflecting local characteristics for the first time among basic local governments, and will begin full-scale operation from the end of this month.
This is a proactive response aimed at 'zero serious accidents,' and through the establishment of a safety and health management system incorporating advanced digital technology, a more systematic and efficient serious accident prevention system is expected to be completed.
The 'Serious Accident Punishment Act' is a law enacted to protect the lives and bodies of citizens and workers, and its main content is to impose severe penalties on management officials and corporations if causality is confirmed when an accident occurs.
On the other hand, the target facilities, including 100 affiliated workplaces and over 1,000 subcontracted projects within the jurisdiction, as well as 153 serious citizen accident facilities, required dozens of inspections and document preparations daily, making efficient safety and health management difficult with the existing methods.
Accordingly, the city has fully digitized the analog serious accident prevention system and promoted safety management innovation based on a smart system, establishing a foundation to integrate, analyze, and systematically manage information related to serious accidents.
The biggest feature of this system is that it supports a mobile environment, allowing various inspections and health management at workplaces to be conducted in real time.
In particular, it can immediately detect and respond swiftly to hazardous and dangerous factors of subcontractors' safety and health management, on-site workers, and facilities, enabling administrative efficiency and simultaneously strengthening practical safety.
A Yangju City official stated, “Our greatest goal is to create an environment where the safety of all workers working at workplaces in Yangju City is the top priority,” and added, “Through the establishment of this smart system, we will strengthen real-time monitoring and realize ‘zero serious accidents’ through continuous management and innovation.”
