The Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority has formed a communication council with the National Assembly, City Council, local residents, and organizations to facilitate the full opening of the Third Yeonryuk Bridge and has begun its full-scale operation.
On the 13th, the Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority held the first meeting of the 'Third Yeonryuk Bridge Public-Private Council' at Songdo G-Tower, explaining the progress of the construction project and current issues while gathering opinions.
The Third Yeonryuk Bridge, a long-cherished project in Incheon, faced difficulties for over 10 years but broke ground at the end of 2020 thanks to the active efforts of citizens and the city of Incheon. Having overcome previous challenges and brought the project onto the main track, the Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority plans to prioritize communication with citizens and seek solutions through the public-private council.
The public-private council plans to jointly address key issues such as negotiations on compensation with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, the naming of the bridge, and its development as a tourist resource until the opening of the Third Yeonryuk Bridge.
Ahn Gwang-ho, Head of the Yeongjong-Cheongna Project Division at the Incheon Free Economic Zone Authority, said, "We expect the public-private council to serve as a communication channel between the city of Incheon and local residents," adding, "We will make every effort to ensure the bridge opens normally by the end of the year."

Meanwhile, the Third Yeonryuk Bridge, measuring 4.7 km in length and 30 m in width with six lanes for two-way traffic, is the only one among the three bridges connecting Yeongjong International City to include pedestrian and bicycle paths.
It is also planned to be constructed as an experiential and tourist-oriented bridge where citizens can enjoy features such as the world's tallest 180 m main tower observatory, waterfront deck paths, and nighttime scenery. The current construction progress rate stands at 77%.
