Yeongam County Operates Rural Medical Care 'Wangjin Bus' for Second Consecutive Year

Selected for Ministry of Agriculture and Food Project
Medical Services Provided to Over 2,000 Residents

Yeongam County, South Jeolla Province (Governor Woo Seunghee) announced on the 13th that it will operate the "Rural House Call Bus" until the end of June to support rural residents in areas with insufficient medical facilities.


The Rural House Call Bus project is a public offering project organized by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs. In cooperation with local agricultural cooperatives, it provides comprehensive medical services to residents living in rural areas lacking medical facilities.

The county is investing a total project cost of 144 million KRW to provide specialized medical check-ups such as Korean medicine consultations, acupuncture, eye examinations, and IV therapy, as well as various welfare services. Starting from Miam on the 12th, the program will be held at four locations: Seoyeongam Agricultural Cooperative, Gunseo Agricultural Cooperative, Yeongam Agricultural Cooperative, and Nangju Agricultural Cooperative, targeting approximately 2,000 local residents from Yeongam, Deokjin, Dobo, Gunseo, Haksan, and Miam?an increase of 1,200 people compared to last year.


In particular, this year’s check-ups are expected to provide a wider range of medical services through partnerships with Gwangju Malgeun Optical, Jangheung Integrated Medical Hospital for eye examinations and IV therapy, as well as Wonkwang University Gwangju Korean Medicine Hospital and Dongshin University Gwangju Korean Medicine Hospital.


Governor Woo Seunghee said, “I hope this initiative will extend a warm hand of medical care to seniors and vulnerable groups in areas with low medical accessibility, becoming a reliable companion in safeguarding the lives of our residents,” adding, “It will be a great force in realizing even more meticulous and tailored welfare services for our community.”
