The reason why local governments in Gyeongsangbuk-do are visiting Yeongju is that it was the only city in the province to be selected among the ten locations nationwide for this year's project. Additionally, the Namsan Seonbi Urban Regeneration Project, promoted through the "2017 Our Neighborhood Revitalization" initiative, received excellent evaluations from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, highlighting Yeongju's extensive experience and expertise in operating urban regeneration projects.
According to the city, on the 12th, 14 public officials in charge of urban regeneration from Gyeongsangbuk-do and its cities and counties visited Yeongju. Starting with the Namsun Center?which won the "2022 Best Home Repair Case" and "2023 Best Balanced Development Case" awards from the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport?they toured key facilities such as the children's care center, home repair sites, and the village public parking lot, receiving explanations on overall operations and management.
Afterward, they visited Boreumgol Village in Sangmang-dong, the site selected for the 2024 project, and listened to explanations from officials of the Yeongju Urban Regeneration Division and the Urban Regeneration Support Center about the site selection process and know-how for the application.
An official from Gyeongsangbuk-do said, "Since launching the '2014 Urban Regeneration Leading Project,' Yeongju has continuously operated urban regeneration facilities with residents and is creating exemplary cases. We hope this visit will help city and county officials benchmark Yeongju's experience as they prepare for their own projects."
Lee Donghee, head of the Urban Regeneration Division, said, "We sincerely thank the cities and counties in Gyeongsangbuk-do promoting urban regeneration projects for visiting Yeongju. The urban regeneration projects that residents and the city have worked together to build will continue even after the official project ends, overcoming local decline and transforming the area into a place people want to visit."
