Residential Space for 4,421 Households Also Planned
Daejeon City announced on the 13th that it has officially published the development plan and topographic map for the Seonambu Comprehensive Sports Town (Phase 1 Urban Development Project).
According to the announcement, the land use plan consists of: ▲ Public facility sites (such as sports facilities) 532,129㎡ (69.7%) ▲ Residential sites 221,314㎡ (29%) ▲ Semi-residential facility sites 10,054㎡ (1.3%). A total of 4,421 households (including 2,239 rental units) will be created as residential space, and sports facilities such as a multi-purpose stadium and the Oh Sangwook International Fencing Arena are planned to be established.
The city plans to preserve the natural environment of the Hakhacheon stream as much as possible, while designing public sports facilities with energy efficiency in mind. In addition, parks and green spaces will be systematically arranged to enhance accessibility and pedestrian convenience, allowing residents to use the facilities more comfortably.
The city expects that, once the Seonambu Comprehensive Sports Town is completed, the area of public sports facilities available per person will increase from 1.73㎡ to 1.89㎡.
The Seonambu Comprehensive Sports Town development project will be carried out in two phases with a total investment of 851.3 billion won. The Phase 1 urban development project will invest 669.6 billion won by 2027 to complete land compensation, public housing sites, and sports facility sites. The Phase 2 sports facility construction project will invest 181.7 billion won by 2029 to build the multi-purpose stadium and other facilities.
Currently, negotiations for compensation for residents and landowners within the project area are underway. The city plans to complete the compensation procedures, including deposits, by December and begin construction of the complex within this year.
Lee Jangwoo, Mayor of Daejeon, said, "We will develop the Seonambu Comprehensive Sports Town as a mini-new town concept where sports facilities and residential spaces are harmoniously integrated, and create the nation's best landmark comprehensive sports facility complex."
