2027 Nonsan World Strawberry Industry Expo Selected as Candidate for International Event Review

Final Decision by the Ministry of Economy and Finance Expected in July

The "2027 Nonsan World Strawberry Industry Expo," jointly promoted by Chungnam Province and Nonsan City, has been confirmed as a subject for international event review by the Ministry of Economy and Finance. The ministry is expected to make a final decision in July based on the research results commissioned to the Korea Institute for International Economic Policy (KIEP).

The "2027 Nonsan World Strawberry Industry Expo" was initiated to create new added value in the K-strawberry industry, centered on Nonsan strawberries, which represent Korea, and to provide a platform for international exchange and cooperation through the expansion of the global market.

The city has promoted the quality and value of Nonsan strawberries and agricultural products worldwide and established cooperative networks through events such as the "Nonsan Agro-Food Overseas Expo," "K-Food Buyer Consultation Meeting," and the "Asia Korean Business Conference."

The "2027 Nonsan World Strawberry Industry Expo" aims to present a new future value for the strawberry industry by connecting primary industry (production) to sixth industry (processing, experience, tourism) as an international event, linking the strawberry industry with future agricultural technologies such as smart agriculture, agtech, and foodtech.

Mayor Baek Seonghyeon said, "With the confirmation as a subject for international event review, Nonsan has reached a significant turning point toward becoming a global hub for the strawberry industry. We will do our utmost to cooperate with central government agencies and related organizations to secure final approval in July and successfully host the expo."

Meanwhile, the "2027 Nonsan Strawberry Industry Expo," under the theme "K-Berry! Smart Agriculture, Healthy Future," is scheduled to take place from February 26 to March 21, 2027 (24 days) at Nonsan Citizen Family Park, Citizen Sports Complex, Strawberry Scent Rural Theme Park, and the area around Konyang University.
