Goyang City Holds Deogyang Senior College Entrance Ceremony: "Passion for Learning, A New Beginning"

Taking the First Step Toward Lifelong Learning

Goyang Special City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Lee Dong-hwan) announced on the 13th that the 33rd freshman entrance ceremony of Deokyang Senior College was successfully held on the 12th at the auditorium on the 2nd floor of Deokyang Senior Welfare Center.

A total of 335 freshmen attended the entrance ceremony to begin a new journey of learning. Mayor Lee Dong-hwan of Goyang Special City, Jang Do-young, head of the Korea Senior Citizens Association Deokyang Branch, Yoo Hwan-ik, dean of Deokyang Senior College, along with other officials and guests, shared a meaningful time together.


In his congratulatory speech, Mayor Lee Dong-hwan stated, “We will actively support the learning and challenges of the elderly and promote various welfare policies for a healthy and happy old age.”


The city plans to prepare for the rapidly progressing aging society by expanding senior job opportunities, strengthening customized care services, and providing smart informatization education through the IT Supporters Support Project.


Additionally, Goyang Special City intends to develop its own aging indicators and use them as a basis to implement welfare policies that improve the quality of life for the elderly.


A freshman who attended the entrance ceremony said, “I am glad to have the opportunity to learn and challenge new things,” and added, “I want to study hard and spend enjoyable and meaningful time ahead.”


Going forward, the city will continue to actively support lifelong learning for the elderly and persistently promote various policies to achieve self-realization and improve quality of life through learning.
