Choi Ho-kwon Announces on Facebook:
Yeongdeungpo Rotary Overpass Deck and Pier Demolition Completed
Project Finished Two Months Ahead of Schedule
The demolition work of the Yeongdeungpo Rotary overpass deck and piers, which began at the end of October last year, has been completed.
Choi Ho-kwon, the mayor of Yeongdeungpo District, announced on Facebook on the 13th that "the demolition work, originally expected to take six months, was completed in four months, advancing the demolition period by two months."
He introduced that currently, there are two construction barriers at the site: one facing Yeongdeungpo Station and the other facing Yeouido.
Mayor Choi added, "The construction barrier on Gyeongin-ro (the side closer to Yeongdeungpo Station) is scheduled to be dismantled around May to allow vehicle traffic."
He noted that the construction barrier on Gyeongin-ro (the side closer to Yeouido) will be maintained until November this year for the 'Yeongdeungpo Rainwater Pump Station Installation Project.'
Mayor Choi's announcement of the Yeongdeungpo Rotary overpass demolition is interpreted as fulfilling one of his key campaign promises and a long-standing wish of Yeongdeungpo District.
Furthermore, the demolition of the overpass is expected to significantly contribute to regional development by improving accessibility to Yeouido.
