Signing an MOU with Uzbekistan Immigration Office for Shipbuilding Workforce Development, March 14-19
Strengthening Cooperation with Fergana Province and Attending the Opening Ceremony of the Global Human Resource Development Center
Ulsan Mayor Kim Doo-gyeom will lead an overseas delegation to Uzbekistan from the 14th to the 19th, for a six-day, four-night schedule.
This visit aims to address the shortage of skilled technical workers in the field due to the recent recovery of the shipbuilding industry, and is expected to promote friendly cooperation and expand mutual exchanges between the two countries.
The overseas delegation’s first official event will take place at 4:00 PM (6:00 PM KST) on the 14th, with a visit to the Immigration Office in Tashkent Province (headed by Musayev Behzod), where they will sign a memorandum of understanding for joint cooperation on human resource development.
This agreement is designed to help resolve the shortage of skilled workers in the shipbuilding industry, promote friendly cooperation between the two countries, and support the stable operation of human resource development centers.
At 12:00 PM on March 17th, the delegation will visit Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs for a meeting with Deputy Minister Olimjon Abdullayev.
Later, at 3:00 PM, they will visit the Deputy Prime Minister’s Office for a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Jamshid Khojaev.
During these meetings, Mayor Kim Doo-gyeom plans to introduce the industrial status and characteristics of Ulsan, which serves as the industrial capital of Korea, and highlight the importance of human exchange projects through the establishment of local human resource development centers.
In particular, he will emphasize the importance of local education in connection with the implementation of Ulsan’s pilot employment permit system linked to improvements in the E-7 and E-9 visa programs. He will also stress the need to strengthen education on the Korean language and culture within Uzbekistan.
At 9:30 AM on the 18th, the delegation will visit the Fergana Provincial Government Office. There, Mayor Kim will sign a letter of intent for friendly exchange and cooperation with Governor Khayrullo Bozorov, and discuss shipbuilding workforce development projects and the human resource development center.
At 10:30 AM, the delegation will visit Fergana Engineering Institute and meet President Salomov Oktam Rahimovich to introduce Ulsan’s industrial status and discuss human resource development. After the meeting, they will also spend time with students.
The final event of the overseas trip will be at 4:00 PM, with the opening ceremony of the 'Ulsan Global Human Resource Development Center.'
The Ulsan Global Human Resource Development Center, opening on this day, will provide customized technical and Korean language training for 370 trainees in five job categories, with ten sessions of approximately three months each, from this month through December.
The five job categories are: 370 trainees (scaffolding 95, painting 87, grinding 100, insulation 15, electrical 73).
Mayor Kim Doo-gyeom said, "The opening of the Ulsan Global Human Resource Development Center is expected to greatly help resolve the manpower shortage faced by small and medium-sized shipbuilding companies in the region.
