Gyeonggi Province will conduct a joint investigation involving 31 cities and counties targeting 1,451 high-value delinquent taxpayers who own construction machinery equipment worth over 5 million won.
Before on-site collection, Gyeonggi Province will send construction machinery delivery orders and plans to search the business sites of 295 operators owning commercial construction machinery such as bulldozers and excavators starting from mid-month.
Since commercial construction machinery rental businesses generally involve high-value sales transactions, they were selected as the primary targets for tracking investigations. However, to avoid disruption to business activities, flexible delinquency measures such as submission of installment payment plans and auction deferrals will be implemented concurrently.
Gyeonggi Province will also pursue tracking investigations and forced towing measures for privately owned or closed corporation-owned construction machinery until November.
No Seung-ho, Director of the Tax Justice Division of Gyeonggi Province, stated, "Strong collection measures against high-value delinquent taxpayers are inevitable considering tax fairness with honest taxpayers," but added, "We will support delinquent taxpayers willing to pay by providing social consideration and assistance to help their economic recovery."
Meanwhile, last year, Gyeonggi Province was the first local government nationwide to search 282 commercial construction machinery rental business sites operated by high-value delinquent taxpayers and seized 1,584 construction machines. The local taxes collected through these tracking investigations and follow-up measures amounted to 1.35 billion won.
