Busan Gijang County to Provide Health Checkup Support for Self-Sufficiency Program Participants Starting This Year

Agreement Between Gijang Regional Self-Sufficiency Center and Gijang Hospital
Up to 300,000 KRW Per Year for Health Check-ups

Gijang-gun (Governor Jung Jongbok) announced on the 12th that it will begin providing support for health check-up expenses for residents participating in self-sufficiency projects starting this year to help manage their health.

On the 11th, Gijang Regional Self-Sufficiency Center (Director Lee Sunju) and Gijang Hospital (Director Heo Seonggeun) signed a business agreement to this effect and agreed to cooperate in creating a healthy environment for self-sufficiency workplaces.

Through this agreement, participants in self-sufficiency projects will receive support for health check-up costs up to a maximum of 300,000 KRW per person per year. The funds for this support will come from the ‘Gijang-gun Self-Sufficiency Fund,’ which was established to assist low-income individuals with self-sufficiency and welfare improvement.

The recipients of health check-up support are participants in regional self-sufficiency projects under Article 26 of the Enforcement Rules of the National Basic Living Security Act who are not eligible for the national health check-up program. Examination costs will be supported for a total of 70 participants classified as high-risk groups, such as those with hypertension, diabetes, or hyperlipidemia.

Through this initiative, recipients will be able to detect and monitor disease risk factors that are difficult to discover through general examinations at an early stage, enabling early prevention of diseases. In addition, the county plans to accelerate efforts to realize medical welfare for residents by providing systematic health management support for those participating in self-sufficiency projects.

Lee Sunju, Director of the Gijang Regional Self-Sufficiency Center, said, “Through this agreement with Gijang Hospital, we are able to reduce the financial burden on participants in the Gijang Regional Self-Sufficiency Center’s work programs and promote their health. We will actively support residents so they can participate in self-sufficiency work in good health.”

Jung Jongbok, Governor of Gijang-gun, said, “With the support for health check-up expenses, I hope participants in self-sufficiency projects will be able to prevent diseases and improve their health management skills, enabling them to continue long-term and stable economic activities. We will prepare various support measures to promote the health and medical welfare of participants in self-sufficiency projects.”
