45,000 Meals Provided
Student Satisfaction on the Rise
Korea Polytechnic University is participating in the government-led ‘Thousand-Won Breakfast’ program.
Korea Polytechnic University has joined the '1,000 Won Breakfast' initiative, and students are taking advantage of it. Korea Polytechnic University announced on the 13th that it has been implementing the ‘Thousand-Won Breakfast’ program, providing students with breakfast for 1000 won starting this semester.
The university plans to provide this meal to a total of 45,000 students this year. Considering students’ convenience, the program is being conducted at three locations?the student cafeteria, Olive Green, and Raon Cafeteria?until December 19.
The ‘Thousand-Won Breakfast’ is a project that provides subsidies to universities operating school cafeterias where college students can have breakfast by paying only 1000 won. The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs supports 2000 won per student, Gyeonggi Province supports 1000 won, and the remaining cost is covered by the university.
Last year, the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs increased the government support rate from 1000 won to 2000 won per student and introduced an ombudsman and promoted excellent menus to improve meal quality.
Kim Eok, Director of Student Affairs, said, “We will focus on expanding the scale of the project and providing a variety of menus so that students can maintain healthy eating habits through breakfast and concentrate on their studies.”
