Gwangju University (President Kim Dongjin) announced on the 12th that its Department of Korean Language Education has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Gwangju Foreign Residents Support Center (Director Shin Kyunggu) to promote Korean language education and cultural exchange for foreign residents and multicultural families.
Under the agreement, the two organizations will collaborate on operating Korean language education programs, activities to enhance multicultural understanding, support for social adaptation and employment of foreign residents, and life education support for multicultural families.
Kim Yunhee, head of the Department of Korean Language Education, stated, "We will support a variety of educational and cultural programs to help foreign residents and multicultural families adapt smoothly to Korean society."
Meanwhile, Gwangju University was selected this month as an operator of the Social Integration Program (KIIP) and is providing a systematic curriculum for training multicultural society specialists. In the undergraduate program, students can obtain a Level 2 certificate through the Multicultural Society Specialist Convergence Major, and in the doctoral program in Korean Language and Culture Education Content at the Graduate School, it is possible to obtain a Level 1 certificate as a multicultural society specialist.
