Cooperation with Namdong Post Office
126 People Supported Over Three Months
Dementia patients who were in welfare blind spots will now receive customized support through public postal services.
Namdong-gu, Incheon announced on the 12th that 126 households received national dementia support services over a three-month period from December last year to last month through the 'Care Welfare Registered Mail Service.'
The Care Welfare Registered Mail Service is a public postal service where postal workers observe the health status and living conditions of dementia patients while delivering registered mail and report this information to public health centers.
In December last year, Namdong-gu signed a business agreement with the Incheon Namdong Post Office and sent care welfare registered mail to 300 people who were registered at the Dementia Safety Center but were not receiving support services.
As a result, 126 people, accounting for 42% of the target households, received dementia support services such as dementia treatment expenses, necessary supplies, and community resource linkage through the care welfare registered mail. Additionally, based on checklists prepared by postal workers, the district identified health and safety issues for 40 dementia patients and provided customized case management and other services.
The district plans to continuously establish a high-risk group care system for various dementia patients in the future, including those who did not receive registered mail during this project period or those who did not wish to receive support.
Park Jong-hyo, Mayor of Namdong-gu, said, "We will work to minimize welfare blind spots and actively discover households in crisis by establishing a support system for dementia patients in cooperation with the Incheon Namdong Post Office."
