Swift Response to Various Emergencies Such as Fires and Traffic Accidents
The 'CCTV Integrated Control Center' in Taean-gun, Chungnam, is playing a significant role as a guardian of public safety, contributing greatly to the prevention of various crimes and accidents.
According to the county, at around 9 p.m. on the 9th, a monitoring officer spotted a man stealing seafood from an aquarium at a store in Taean Seobu Market in Taean-eup through the surveillance monitors and immediately reported it to the police.
The monitoring officer provided real-time updates on the thief's movements to the police, assisting in the apprehension. Taean Police Station promptly arrested the thief on a road approximately 250 meters in a straight line from the market.
The monitoring officer stated, "As a member of the Taean-gun CCTV Integrated Control Center, I am pleased to be able to protect the property of small business owners," adding, "I will continue to do my best in my duties with the mindset of protecting my own family."
The Taean-gun CCTV Integrated Control Center operates a 24-hour, three-shift system with one dispatched police officer and 24 monitoring officers. Utilizing a video sharing system connected to the 112 Situation Room at Taean Police Station, they have established a rapid and accurate reporting system and maintain close communication with patrolling officers, enabling swift responses to emergencies such as crimes, traffic accidents, and fires, thereby ensuring the safety of the residents.
In particular, the center operates a total of about 1,900 high-definition closed-circuit televisions (CCTV) across various sectors such as crime prevention, child safety, disaster response, and schools, thoroughly monitoring high-risk areas throughout the county and playing a major role in building a 'Safe City Taean.'
A county official said, "Since its launch in 2013, the Taean-gun CCTV Integrated Control Center has made significant contributions to the apprehension of criminals and has been dedicated to monitoring for the safety of residents," adding, "We will continue to expand CCTV coverage in vulnerable areas and strengthen cooperation with the police to create an environment where residents can feel safe."
