Wanju County in North Jeolla Province will host the 'Samnye Traditional Market Pumba Festival' on the 14th and 15th.
According to the county on the 12th, this event, held to celebrate the 61st anniversary of the opening of Samnye Market, has been prepared to revitalize the traditional market during the economic downturn and to create a cultural space where residents, merchants, and visitors can all come together.
Seo Bonggu Gakseori and eight other Pumba teams will perform, filling the venue with excitement. The Pumba performances, known for their comical acts, will provide delightful entertainment that everyone can enjoy, creating special memories for visitors. In addition, various food booths and a plaza singing contest will offer a wide range of activities.
Park Okhee, president of the Samnye Market Merchants Association, said, "Through this festival, we hope to look back on the 61-year history of the traditional market and introduce a more familiar and vibrant market culture to the residents," adding, "We hope many people will visit and enjoy the lively atmosphere together."
County Governor Yoo Heetae stated, "We are implementing various policies for the continuous development of traditional markets and the revitalization of the local economy," and added, "We will continue to seek diverse support measures to enhance the competitiveness of local businesses and attract more visitors to the traditional market."
