Life Insurance Association Hosts '2025 Han-Il Life Insurance Seminar'

The Life Insurance Association announced on the 12th that it held the '2025 Korea-Japan Life Insurance Seminar' with Japan's Asia Life Insurance Development Center (OLICDC).

Life Insurance Association Hosts '2025 Han-Il Life Insurance Seminar' Kim Cheol-ju, President of the Life Insurance Association.

This seminar was organized to deeply discuss the path forward for Korean life insurance companies, which have entered a super-aged society earlier this year. Participants listened to cases from the Japanese life insurance industry, which has already experienced the super-aged society and is responding successfully, and focused on cases from the US and Japan, where insurance claim trust systems are actively operated, together with industry experts.

In the first topic presentation, Yusuke Miyazaki and Tadashi Hara, managers of Japan Life Insurance, introduced the current status and business structure of Japan's nursing care industry and the operation case of nursing care services by Japan Life Insurance (Nichii Gakkan), which is evaluated as an advanced model.

Participants showed great interest in the nursing care business case of Japan Life Insurance, which owns Nichii Holdings, the top nursing care company in sales within Japan. Specific Q&A exchanges were also conducted at the practical level.

Heeseok Yang, a lawyer at NH Nonghyup Life Insurance, introduced legal issues that need improvement for the insurance claim trust system, recently implemented in Korea, to operate more stably. Drawing on actual cases from the US and Japan, which have long operated the insurance claim trust system, he examined potential future issues and sought solutions.

Kim Cheol-ju, chairman of the Life Insurance Association, said, "With the entry into a super-aged society and changes in population structure leading to entrenched low growth, the life insurance industry is facing a severe situation," adding, "Our industry should not take a passive stance of worrying and waiting over the population crisis but should seize it as an opportunity for a new leap forward."
