Eunpyeong-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Kim Mi-kyung) will hold the ‘2025 Eunpyeong Bulgwangcheon Cherry Blossom Marathon’ on the 30th of this month along Bulgwangcheon, a famous cherry blossom spot.
The marathon will be held in conjunction with the Bulgwangcheon Cherry Blossom Festival ‘Spring of Eunpyeong.’ Participants will be recruited on a first-come, first-served basis from 10 a.m. on the 13th to 5 p.m. on the 19th, with a total of 1,100 runners. Applications can be submitted online through the Eunpyeong-gu Office website, the Eunpyeong-gu Sports Council website, and the Eunpyeong Bulgwangcheon Marathon website.
There are two marathon courses: the 10km course starts at the Bulgwangcheon Media Center, passes the Hongjecheon intersection, and turns back near Seongmidari Bridge in Mapo; the 5km course starts at the Bulgwangcheon Media Center and turns back at Jeungsan Bridge.
Participants must gather by 8 a.m. on the day of the event for warm-up exercises and the opening ceremony, with the 10km course starting at 9 a.m. Participants will receive a commemorative finisher’s gift. To ensure a safe event, the district will deploy safety personnel along the course, and thoroughly prepare facilities such as changing rooms, storage areas, and emergency medical booths.
Mayor Kim Mi-kyung said, “I am pleased to hold a marathon that signals the spring of Eunpyeong at Bulgwangcheon, a precious resting place and famous cherry blossom spot for residents,” adding, “We expect that this marathon, open to everyone, will help promote residents’ health and expand local publicity.”
