Public-Private Joint Effort Calls for Active Resident Participation
Sancheong County in Gyeongnam announced on the 12th that it conducted the "Children First, Child Traffic Safety Campaign" in the area around Sancheong Elementary School.
The campaign, which was carried out to strengthen child traffic safety, was a joint effort between the public and private sectors, with participants including County Governor Lee Seunghwa, Sancheong Police Station, Sancheong Office of Education, Sancheong Elementary School, the Model Drivers' Association, and the Green Mothers' Association.
During the campaign, residents were strongly encouraged to actively participate in safe driving within school zones, making a complete stop at crosswalks, and refraining from illegal parking or stopping.
In particular, the campaign focused on raising awareness of traffic safety among both drivers and pedestrians and on preventing accidents within child protection zones.
Children were also guided on safe walking habits, such as obeying pedestrian signals, refraining from jaywalking, and avoiding the use of smartphones while walking.
Sancheong County plans to continue strengthening safety inspections around elementary schools and conducting joint traffic safety activities with related organizations and private groups in conjunction with this campaign.
Governor Lee Seunghwa said, "Child traffic safety is an important task that the entire community must work on together," and added, "We will do our best to ensure that children can grow up in a safe environment."
