'50 Days in Office' Trump Approval Rating Slightly Down... High Negative Opinion on Economic Policy

48% Oppose Economic Policies
"Honeymoon Seems to Be Ending"

As the U.S. stock market plunged due to the impact of U.S. President Donald Trump's tariff policies and other factors, raising concerns about an economic recession, Trump's approval rating has slightly declined compared to immediately after his inauguration, reported U.S. political media outlet The Hill on the 11th (local time).

'50 Days in Office' Trump Approval Rating Slightly Down... High Negative Opinion on Economic Policy

According to a poll conducted by Emerson College on the 50th day of Trump's presidency, the approval rating for Trump's administration stood at 47%, down 2 percentage points from 49% right after his inauguration.

Conversely, the percentage of respondents who evaluated Trump's administration negatively rose to 45%, compared to 41% in the early days of his presidency.

This appears to mainly reflect negative public opinion regarding Trump's economic policies.

Nearly half of the respondents, 48%, opposed Trump's economic policies, while only 37% expressed support.

In particular, regarding Trump's controversial tariff policies, 53% of respondents said tariffs would harm economic growth.

Additionally, 46% of respondents said Trump's policies are worsening the economy, while only 28% believed they are improving it.

The policy most positively evaluated by voters was Trump's immigration policy, with 48% of respondents expressing support.

On the other hand, negative opinions were higher regarding economic, healthcare, and cryptocurrency sectors.

Spencer Kimball, the Emerson College poll director, explained, "Although Trump has not yet achieved results in the economic sector in voters' perceptions, his approval rating remains strong," adding, "However, the real issue will be how voters perceive their own financial futures."

He also said, "Although there has been little change since the election, the initial honeymoon phase seems to be coming to an end."

This poll was conducted from the 8th to the 10th, the 50th day after Trump's inauguration, surveying 1,000 registered U.S. voters. The margin of error is ±3 percentage points.
