Support for Ramp Installation in Small-Scale Stores to Improve Accessibility for the Mobility-Impaired
Leading the Creation of a Barrier-Free City
Namyangju City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Joo Gwang-deok) announced on the 11th that it will carry out a support project for the installation of ramps in small-scale stores in collaboration with the Namyangju Dasan Center for Independent Living of Persons with Disabilities to improve accessibility for mobility-impaired individuals.
This is the first project implemented by the Namyangju Welfare Foundation in connection with designated donations from the Namyangju Eastern Small and Medium Business Association.
The support targets small-scale stores that do not meet the legal standards and are not subject to mandatory installation under the "Act on Guarantee of Convenience for the Disabled, Elderly, Pregnant Women, etc."
The application deadline is October 31 (or until the budget is exhausted), and applications can be submitted via email, fax, or in person.
Application forms can be downloaded from the Namyangju City Hall or Namyangju Dasan Center for Independent Living of Persons with Disabilities websites under the announcements section. For more details, inquiries can be made to the Namyangju Dasan Center for Independent Living of Persons with Disabilities.
Kang Min-su, Director of the Dasan Center for Independent Living of Persons with Disabilities, said, “We are supporting the installation of ramps to guarantee mobility rights for mobility-impaired individuals such as persons with disabilities, the elderly, and pregnant women. We expect this project to expand the range of daily mobility for persons with disabilities and increase their participation in cultural and leisure activities, thereby enhancing community involvement.”
Kim Il-nyeo, Director of the Disability Welfare Division, stated, “Even a small threshold can become an obstacle that blocks daily life and access to information for mobility-impaired individuals. We will continue to strive to create a barrier-free city where everyone can live comfortably through welfare policies that can be felt in everyday life.”
