On the same day, at the Korean Air headquarters hangar in Gangseo-gu, Seoul, after introducing the new corporate image (CI) logo of Korean Air, Chairman Cho responded to reporters' questions by saying, "We are making great efforts to improve the quality of service, and there will be no monopoly."
This was to dismiss public concerns that fares might increase and service quality might decline as Korean Air becomes the largest domestic national airline through the corporate merger with Asiana Airlines.
He emphasized, "The integrated Korean Air is expected to rank 11th in the world in terms of scale, but I want to focus more on quality," adding, "Our goal is to become the airline most loved and trusted by customers and employees, where they feel happiness."
He continued, "Employees are excited and confident about the leap to a mega airline. You can feel their determination to do well," and added, "The mileage integration will be announced soon at a level that all customers can understand."
Regarding the integration of low-cost carriers (LCCs) Jin Air, Air Busan, and Air Seoul, he said, "Since the three companies have different systems, it will take time to merge them, but we have never considered the separate sale of Air Busan," and added, "We consider Air Busan part of the family." He also said, "Jin Air will play a role beyond what Air Busan has done in Busan."
He also revealed plans for Jin Air to continue focusing mainly on short-haul routes after the integration. Chairman Cho said, "We plan to operate on routes with high tourism demand and assign competitive aircraft models to Jin Air."
He also expressed determination to overcome recent economic uncertainties. He said, "Although the economic situation is highly uncertain and we do not know what will happen tomorrow, we wisely overcame the greater crisis of COVID-19," adding, "Employees will overcome this together with one heart."
Meanwhile, the integrated crew uniforms of the two airlines, which were not disclosed this time, are scheduled to be unveiled upon completion of the integration. Chairman Cho said, "We are all working hard to create a design that surpasses the current uniforms and addresses the difficulties raised by the crew members. You can look forward to it."
