Kia Norway Dealership Deletes Marketing Post Targeting Maersk After Controversy

A Kia dealership in Norway reportedly deleted a marketing post targeting Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, after the controversy grew on social media.

According to foreign media including electric vehicle outlet InsideEV on the 11th, the dealership recently posted a photo on Instagram and Facebook showing a sticker attached to the rear bumper of the Kia electric SUV EV3.

The sticker read, "I bought this after Elon went crazy." This phrase is a variation of a popular slogan among Tesla owners criticizing Musk’s recent political actions: "I bought this before I knew Elon Musk had gone crazy."

As the post spread, Sawyer Merritt, known as a Tesla investor, mentioned it on X (formerly Twitter), and Musk responded with, "They really did that?" The controversy escalated, leading the dealership to delete the post from all social media platforms.

The dealership is reported to be an independent legal entity operating as a sales dealer, not directly affiliated with Kia headquarters.
