Gijang-gun and Korea Electrical Safety Corporation Conduct Electrical Safety Inspections for Facility Farms

Electrical Safety Inspections and Fire Prevention Consulting
for 100 Facility Farms from 2023

Gijang-gun (Governor Jung Jongbok) announced on the 11th that, in cooperation with the Busan-Ulsan Regional Headquarters of the Korea Electrical Safety Corporation, it is actively conducting electrical safety inspections and on-site coaching for local facility farms to enhance electrical safety and prevent fires.

In February 2023, the Gijang-gun Agricultural Technology Center signed an MOU with the Busan-Ulsan Regional Headquarters of the Korea Electrical Safety Corporation to mutually cooperate in protecting the property of farmers from electrical hazards and fires in agricultural facilities (such as greenhouses).

To prevent fire accidents caused by electrical factors, which have a very high incidence rate, the plan is to conduct electrical safety inspections and fire prevention consulting for 100 facility farms from 2023 to 2025.

The two organizations completed inspections of 40 facility farms in 2023 and 30 in 2024. This year, from March 24 to 28, they will carry out electrical safety inspections and on-site coaching for another 30 facility farms.

The main inspection items include distribution panels, circuit breakers, wiring, outlets, and grounding conditions within the facility farms. Regular safety training is also provided so that farmers can familiarize themselves with fire prevention safety checks for agricultural facilities and conduct periodic inspections to prevent property damage from fires in advance.

Kim Hyeongu, Director of the Gijang-gun Agricultural Technology Center, said, "Through systematic electrical safety inspections and consulting, we will prevent recurring agricultural facility fire accidents each year and create a safer agricultural environment."
