Busan Gijang-gun Launches Street Performance and Busking Zone Support Project

Street Performance Applications Open from March 10 to April 15
Support for Venues and Sound Equipment to Revitalize Performances

Gijang-gun, Busan (Governor Jung Jongbok) announced on the 11th that it will implement the 'Street Performance (Busking Zone) Support Project' from April to October (excluding July), focusing on parks and other areas with high foot traffic.

The 'Street Performance (Busking Zone) Support Project' is a program in which Gijang-gun provides outdoor performance venues and basic sound equipment necessary for street performances. It aims to offer cultural and artistic activity spaces to performers and expand opportunities for residents to enjoy cultural performances.

This year, the project will kick off on April 26 at Saemaeul Children’s Park (Gijang-eup), followed by performances at Jeonggwan Dolphin Fountain Square (Jeonggwan-eup) in May, Gijang No.1 Public Parking Lot (Gijang-eup) in June, Ilgwang Beach Event Stage (Ilgwang-eup) in August, and Jeonggwan Dolphin Fountain Square (Jeonggwan-eup) again in September. Colorful street performances will be held for about 90 minutes on Saturday evenings at these locations.

Applications for performances can be submitted to the Culture and Tourism Division of Gijang-gun from March 10 to April 15.

The county will arrange detailed performance dates and order, notify applicants individually of the confirmed schedule on April 18, and post the final performance schedule on the Gijang-gun website.

To prevent similar performances from being concentrated in a specific period, the county plans to coordinate performance schedules among participants in advance and provide a variety of performances that will captivate the eyes and ears of the audience.

Jung Jongbok, Governor of Gijang-gun, said, "Last year's street performance support project received a great response, with both participants and audiences highly satisfied," and added, "We will continue to provide residents with diverse cultural experiences and attractions while fostering a vibrant street performance culture."

For more information about street performances, please refer to the notices on the Gijang-gun website or contact the Culture and Arts Team of the Culture and Tourism Division of Gijang-gun.
