Jeju Special Self-Governing Province is establishing a cooperative system with the National Assembly Library to enhance residents' access to legislative information.
On the afternoon of the 11th, Jeju Province signed a business agreement with the National Assembly Library at Hanra Library for the provision of legislative information and mutual cooperation.
This agreement aims to share the National Assembly's specialized policy information with the local community, increase residents' understanding of legislative activities, and expand cultural opportunities for local residents by establishing a library collaboration model. The signing ceremony was attended by Jeju Governor Oh Younghoon, Director of the National Assembly Library Hwang Jungkeun, and about 10 key officials from both institutions.
Through this agreement, the two institutions will jointly utilize their legislative information and strengthen their cooperative system.
Jeju Province plans to establish a "National Assembly Legislative Information Center" within Hanra Library and will cooperate with the National Assembly Library in providing and utilizing legislative information, including access to the library's information systems and publications, as well as the use of each other's facilities and resources.
The National Assembly Library plans to regularly provide offline specialized policy materials such as "Factbook," "Data Plus (DATA+)," "Latest Foreign Policy Information," "Latest Foreign Legislative Information," "World & Law," "Data & Law," and the monthly "National Assembly Library."
In addition, through online services such as the National Assembly Electronic Library, the National Assembly Local Council Information Portal, and the National Strategic Information Portal, the utilization of legislative information produced by the National Assembly and the library will be enhanced. As a result, residents will be able to conveniently access the latest legislative trends and policy analysis materials produced by the National Assembly at Hanra Library in a one-stop manner.
Hwang Jungkeun, Director of the National Assembly Library, stated, "Through this agreement, we have established a foundation to provide the National Assembly Library's specialized legislative information services even closer to the residents of Jeju."
He added, "Starting with Hanra Library, we plan to establish hubs for the provision and utilization of National Assembly legislative and policy information at 17 representative libraries nationwide and to perform the functions of a branch of the National Assembly Library. By connecting the National Assembly Library's legislative information services to each local government, we will take the lead in the national dissemination of knowledge and information."
Governor Oh Younghoon said, "The National Assembly's policy materials and research results will become valuable assets for regional development," and added, "We will create the optimal environment for residents to conveniently access legislative information and support various cooperative projects to maximize synergy between the two institutions."
