Seocheon Civic Groups: "Only One Powerful Person is Equal... Dismiss and Arrest President Yoon"

Civic groups in Seocheon, Chungnam, are holding a political protest on the 11th, calling for the impeachment and arrest of President Yoon Sukyeol.

Civil groups in Seocheon-gun, Chungnam, made a joint public statement on the 11th, calling for the impeachment of President Yoon Suk Yeol.

The joint statement event, held in front of Seocheon County Office, was attended by the Democratic Party Boryeong-Seocheon Regional Committee, Progressive Party Seocheon County Committee, KCTU Seocheon County Committee, Seocheon County Farmers' Association, Seocheon Donghak Peasant Revolution Succession Project Association, Seocheon Peace Girl Statue Memorial Project Association, Wolnam Lee Sangjae Memorial Project Association, Seocheon Love Citizens' Group, Yoon Suk Yeol Resignation Seocheon County Movement Headquarters, and the Justice Party Boryeong-Seocheon Regional Committee, among others.

Yu Seungkwang, Vice Chair of the Democratic Party Boryeong-Seocheon Regional Committee, stated, "Even though it may be a small spark here in Seocheon, I hope all of us can join forces and participate in the movement until the day Yoon Suk Yeol is impeached," and emphasized, "In a society where public sentiment is completely disregarded, at this moment when we are confronting the vested interests, I urge everyone to unite your strength so that we can surely bring about the downfall of Yoon Suk Yeol."

Lee Sunsook, Chair of the Justice Party Boryeong-Seocheon Regional Committee, said, "The late Roh Hoechan, former leader, once said, 'Only ten thousand people are equal before the law,' and that still holds true. Only those in power are truly equal. It is an extremely serious and extraordinary situation," adding, "The timing of detention and the issue of investigative authority will not affect the impeachment trial at all. The real issue is how overwhelmingly he will be removed from office."

She continued, "If there are attempts to raise the possibility of chaos, division, or refusal to accept the outcome, we must once again unite passionately in this square," and emphasized, "The Justice Party Boryeong-Seocheon and the Boryeong Public Affairs Council will overcome Boryeong and Seocheon together, and we will turn this square into a place where we stand together until the very end, even against the reckless remarks of National Assembly member Jang Donghyuk in Boryeong and Seocheon."
