Traffic Control from 7:30 AM to 2:00 PM on April 13
Official Course Introduced for the First Time... Bus Detours and No Stops
Control from Jeollyuri Port to Yeongsadaegyo Bridge and Gochon Jeonhori Entrance
Gimpo City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Kim Byung-su) announced on the 11th that traffic will be controlled on major roads throughout Gimpo city on April 13, the day of the "13th Gimpo Hangang Marathon."
The marathon course control time is from 7:30 AM to 2:00 PM on April 13, the day of the event. Buses passing through this section will either be rerouted or will not stop.
The controlled sections include the lanes from the Gimpo Sports Complex, the event venue, to National Road No. 48 Sinsa Intersection ~ Geolpo Intersection towards Ganghwa, and Hongdopyeong-ro (towards Bukbyeon IC), which will be fully closed until 2:00 PM.
Additionally, this year’s event introduces the official marathon course (42.195 km) for the first time, expanding the control range from Geumporo Hasung-myeon Jeollyuri Port to Gochon-eup Jeonho-ri entrance, with lanes towards Ganghwa being controlled. Accordingly, entry to Yonghwasa IC towards Hasung will be restricted, so citizens planning to use this section need to check detour routes in advance.
Gimpo City plans to promote the controlled sections and bus detour information through the city’s website and official SNS channels, and will deploy guides at key points on the day of the event to minimize inconvenience to citizens caused by the traffic control.
A Gimpo City official stated, “Thanks to the interest and participation of numerous marathon enthusiasts nationwide, the Gimpo Hangang Marathon has grown by setting new records for the highest number of participants each year. This year, the official marathon course (42.195 km) will be introduced for the first time. With an increase in participants and an expanded running route compared to previous events, we ask for citizens’ understanding regarding the extended vehicle control times and sections as a precautionary measure to prevent safety accidents.”
Meanwhile, marking its 13th edition this year, the Gimpo Hangang Marathon, expected to attract about 7,000 participants, is anticipated to be not just a simple sports event but a festival celebrating the natural treasure of the Hangang River.
