Jinan-gun to Launch 'Gowon-gil Walking Relay' Project Starting on the 15th

Held Every Saturday Until June 14

Jeonbuk Jinan-gun and the Jinan Go-won-gil Secretariat announced on the 11th that they will be holding the "Standing on the Windy Highland Trail" Jinan Go-won-gil Relay Walking Project.

This project, which has been running since 2010 and marks its 16th year, will take place every Saturday for 14 weeks from the 15th until June 14th. Participants will walk the 14 sections of the Jinan Go-won-gil, covering a total distance of 210 km.

The Jinan Go-won-gil is a famous circular trail that stretches 210 km around the entire Jinan-gun area, divided into 14 sections. The trail passes through 100 villages and 50 mountain passes, offering walkers the chance to experience the pristine nature, culture, history, and people of Jinan. It is renowned nationwide as a beautiful walking path.

This year, the journey will begin with the first section, "Maisan-gil," and continue clockwise through each section. The first steps will be taken in the lush, shaded forest path of Maisan, and as spring deepens, participants will continue along the increasingly green forest trails of Jinan, finishing their journey on the last, early summer day at the Jinan Mannam Rest Area.

Along each section, participants will hear interesting stories related to the Jinan Go-won-gil, and enjoy various healing programs such as drawing with fallen leaves, barefoot walking, and tea ceremonies tailored to the surrounding environment, providing time for relaxation and healing.

Additionally, the Jinan Go-won-gil Secretariat plans to provide stews such as kimchi stew and dried radish greens stew, so participants can enjoy them together with their own packed lunches, fostering a sense of community and sharing.

A representative from the Jinan Go-won-gil said, "As you walk along the Jinan Go-won-gil, you will naturally find yourself healed by the beautiful nature and the people you meet along the way. We hope this relay walking event will encourage many people to take an interest in Jinan and the Jinan Go-won-gil and join us."

Those wishing to participate can simply arrive at the starting point of each session by 9 a.m. without prior registration, or come to the Jinan Mannam Rest Area by 8:30 a.m. to use the carpool service. A shuttle bus will also operate from the walking endpoint back to the starting point.
