The Office of Educational Innovation at Pukyong National University (Director Won Yongseon) selects and awards outstanding faculty for innovative teaching every semester to strengthen faculty competency in innovative course design, improve classes, and expand innovative teaching by sharing excellent innovative courses.
Last semester, Pukyong National University selected Professors Kim Yeonjun and Lee Kyunam as outstanding faculty after evaluating the operation strategies, assessment methods, and achievements among 932 faculty members in charge of innovative classes.
Professor Kim Yeonjun was recognized for his achievements in the Special Topics in Physical Chemistry course, conducted using Problem-Based Learning (PBL), where students were encouraged to establish their own problem-solving strategies and connect their outputs to academic journal articles.
Professor Lee Kyunam was recognized for his achievements in the Comprehensive Design of Building Water Supply and Drainage Systems course, conducted using Team-Based Learning (TBL), by promoting team-based design and production projects, and enabling students to win awards at academic colloquiums with their project outcomes.
The Office of Educational Innovation at Pukyong National University supports nine types of innovative teaching, including Problem-Based Learning, Flipped Learning, Maker Education, and Action Learning, and strives to improve lecture quality through monitoring and course review contests. In addition, outstanding faculty in innovative teaching will share their know-how by holding special lectures for new faculty and those interested in innovative teaching.
