Aiming to Reduce Fine Dust and Create a Pleasant Air Environment
Yeongju City (Mayor Park Namseo) will accept applications for the ‘Subsidy Support Project for Early Scrapping of Old Diesel Vehicles’ starting from the 11th until the budget is exhausted, as part of its efforts to reduce air pollutants.
Eligible vehicles include: △Diesel vehicles with emission grades 4 and 5 △On-road construction machinery of type 3 (dump trucks, concrete mixer trucks, concrete pump trucks) subject to emission standards prior to August 31, 2009 △Off-road construction machinery (excavators, forklifts) manufactured before December 31, 2004.
Among last year’s grade 4 diesel vehicles, those equipped with emission reduction devices at the time of release are also eligible, and for grade 5 vehicles, those using fuels other than diesel may also apply.
The amount of support is calculated based on vehicle type, year, weight, and other specifications. The subsidy rate is applied to the vehicle’s standard value, and support is provided within the set maximum limit.
Applications can be submitted via the Integrated Automobile Emissions Information System or by registered mail (Korea Automobile Environment Association, Dongan-gu, Anyang-si, Gyeonggi-do). For seniors or those who have difficulty applying online or by mail, application documents can be submitted to the administrative welfare center of their local town, township, or neighborhood.
Detailed information, including application forms, can be found on the Yeongju City website (Notices/Announcements), and further inquiries can be directed to the Environmental Protection Division of Yeongju City.
A city official stated, “As there is high interest in reducing fine dust and air pollutants and improving air quality, we hope vehicle owners will actively participate by taking advantage of the inclusion of non-diesel grade 5 vehicles in the support program starting this year,” adding, “We plan to actively promote air quality improvement projects to create a clean and pleasant environment free of fine dust.”
