Shop-in-Shop Format... Plans to Open More Than 10 Stores
Dongwha Pharm's Vietnamese pharmacy chain subsidiary, 'Jungseon Pharma,' announced on the 11th that it has opened the first collaboration store combining a pharmacy and convenience store in Tien Giang Province, Vietnam, together with GS25 Vietnam.
On the 10th, the two companies held an opening event for the first collaboration store in Go Cong City, Tien Giang Province, Vietnam. Jungseon Pharma operates within the GS25 convenience store space in a shop-in-shop format, selling prescription drugs, over-the-counter medicines, health supplements, and cosmetics. Key products include Dongwha Pharm beverage products such as 'Gas Hwal (活)' and 'Hong Sam Gold,' as well as glucosamine, vitamins, calcium supplements, immune boosters, and collagen products.
Additionally, various marketing events and free health consulting services by professional pharmacists are provided to offer customers a more convenient and valuable shopping experience. The strategy aims to lead new consumer trends. The two companies plan to open more than 10 stores in major Vietnamese cities this year.
Earlier, Jungseon Pharma and GS25 signed a strategic memorandum of understanding (MOU) on January 20 for 'joint development and business cooperation of pharmacy and convenience store distribution chains.'
Since the agreement, the two companies have been collaborating on ▲joint development of collaboration stores using the shop-in-shop model ▲expanding brand awareness through marketing cooperation ▲building a professional image by providing health consulting services by professional pharmacists within the shopping space ▲expanding a portfolio of high-quality healthcare and beauty products including prescription drugs, over-the-counter medicines, and health supplements.
No Woong-ho, head of Dongwha Pharm's Vietnam subsidiary, said, "The collaboration store with GS25 Vietnam is an example aligned with a differentiated distribution trend that satisfies both healthcare and convenience," adding, "Through this cooperation, Vietnamese customers will be able to purchase essential medicines and health supplements more easily."
Meanwhile, Dongwha Pharm acquired 'Jungseon Pharma,' a Vietnamese pharmacy chain operator, in August 2023 to actively enter the Southeast Asian pharmaceutical and beauty markets. It has been strengthening its presence in the Vietnamese market, opening its 200th store last November, and plans to expand to more than 400 stores by 2026.
