Yongin City Operates 'Bicycle Insurance' for All Citizens

This insurance provides benefits to all citizens registered as residents in Yongin, including foreigners, without any separate enrollment procedures.

The coverage applies to accidents occurring while riding a bicycle and is applicable to Yongin citizens regardless of the location of the accident or whether they were riding. It covers accidents involving the rider, a passenger on the back seat, or collisions with pedestrians while riding a bicycle.

In the event of death caused by a bicycle accident, 10 million KRW is paid, and up to 10 million KRW is provided for permanent disability. Consolation money of up to 480,000 KRW is paid for accidents requiring treatment for more than four weeks.

The enrollment period is until March 10 of next year. To claim insurance benefits, claims and related supporting documents must be submitted directly to DB Insurance within three years from the date of the accident.

A city official stated, "As demand for leisure activities involving bicycles is increasing, the city will strive to foster a culture of insurance use so that citizens can ride bicycles safely."
