Korea Federation of SMEs Holds Meeting with Democratic Party's Industry, SMEs and Startups Committee & Budget Committee Members
The Korea Federation of SMEs announced on the afternoon of the 11th that it held a 'Meeting between the Democratic Party's Industry, SMEs and Startups Committee & Budget Committee members and SME representatives' at the Federation of SMEs in Yeouido.
At the meeting, six members including Representative Park Hong-geun (Co-Chairman of the Democratic Party's National Functional Representatives Council), Representative Kim Gyo-heung (Responsible Member of the Industry, SMEs and Startups Committee), Representative Lee Eon-ju (Supreme Council Member), and Representative Kim Won-i (Secretary of the Industry, SMEs and Startups Committee) were present. From the Korea Federation of SMEs, 14 people attended including Chairman Kim Ki-moon, Senior Vice Presidents Kwon Hyuk-hong and Bae Jo-ung, and Vice Presidents Shim Seung-il, Noh Sang-chul·and Han Byung-joon.
Chairman Kim Ki-moon of the Federation of SMEs said, “The introduction of the consultation request right for SME cooperatives was proposed by Secretary Kim Won-i of the National Assembly's Industry, SMEs and Startups Committee, so I hope it will definitely pass in the 22nd National Assembly,” and added, “I hope that the issues most troubling SMEs on the ground, such as the 52-hour workweek system and the Serious Accident Punishment Act, will be thoroughly reviewed and improvement measures will be found.”
He then discussed current agenda items including ▲ the introduction of the SME Win-Win Finance Index ▲ the establishment of a specialized T-commerce channel for micro and small businesses and self-employed persons ▲ the enactment of a special law on SME business succession ▲ and the expansion of the scope of the delivery payment linkage system to cover major expenses.
Representative Park Hong-geun said, “The Democratic Party has decided to assign 310 functional organizations to individual lawmakers to address economic issues,” and added, “As the designated lawmaker in charge of the Korea Federation of SMEs, I will serve as a bridge between the Democratic Party and the SME sector going forward.”
Representative Kim Gyo-heung said, “There are sighs everywhere that the business environment is tougher than during the IMF crisis. Reviving and nurturing SMEs is the key to unlocking the blocked Korean economy,” and added, “If you deliver the vivid voices from the field today, I will return to the National Assembly and find ways to catch both rabbits of worker safety and corporate management.”
