Gwangju City is conducting on-site safety inspections of disaster-prone facilities in response to the spring thaw season. During the thaw period from February to April, as rising temperatures cause the frozen ground to melt, the risk of safety accidents such as collapses, overturns, and falling rocks increases.

According to the city on the 11th, Vice Mayor for Administrative Affairs Ko Gwangwan, together with a joint public-private inspection team, inspected the construction site of the Artificial Intelligence Convergence Complex building in the Cheomdan 3 District of Oryong-dong, Buk-gu, as well as a steep slope area in Yongdu-dong, Buk-gu, on the 10th to check the status of safety management.

On this day, the city focused on inspecting: ▲subsidence around construction sites ▲occurrence of cracks or subsidence in structures ▲status of safety management at construction sites ▲cracks or bulging on slopes ▲potential safety hazards around the facilities.

Vice Mayor Ko stated, "With the arrival of the thaw season, I hope citizens will also pay attention to potential risks in daily life," and added, "We will do our best to prevent accidents through proactive safety inspections."

Meanwhile, the city is conducting emergency inspections of 474 disaster-prone sites, including construction sites and steep slopes, from February 14 to March 15 during the thaw season.
