Health Promotion Program Operated
for 22 Villages in the County
Hamyang County Public Health Center in Gyeongnam is launching the "Health Orugo(GO)" project to support the formation of healthy lifestyle habits among residents by providing health education and information in response to the rapid aging of the population and the increase in chronic diseases.
This project targets villages with low accessibility to healthcare institutions and high interest in health among residents, where existing health promotion programs have not been provided. A total of 22 villages, two from each town and township, have been selected, and the program will be operated eight times per village from March to November.
The main goals of the "Health Orugo" project are to improve residents' health awareness, establish proper lifestyle habits, and provide scientifically based health information, with a focus on helping residents manage their own health.
Main programs include education on healthy lifestyle habits such as moderation in drinking, smoking cessation, and obesity prevention for chronic disease prevention; education and screening for depression and suicide prevention as well as mental health assessment; cognitive health improvement education and dementia screening for dementia prevention; nutrition and dietary education using seasonal fruits and vegetables; guidance on the management of dentures and implants; and education on proper walking posture.
The project began its first program on the 5th at Uipyung Village in Macheon-myeon and is scheduled to conclude in November at Naegok Village in Hamyang-eup.
In addition, to encourage residents to walk more, the "Let's Walk Together, Around the Neighborhood" event will continue to be held.
A representative from the Public Health Center stated, "Through this project, we expect to provide practical health management opportunities to residents in areas with low medical accessibility, and furthermore, to improve residents' health awareness and lifestyle habits, thereby contributing to the formation of a healthy village community."
