Ranked First in Sewage Services and Third in Water Supply in the Province
Geochang County, Gyeongnam Province, announced on the 11th that it ranked first in the sewage sector and third in the water supply sector within Gyeongnam Province in the '2024 Local Public Enterprise Management Evaluation Customer Satisfaction Survey'.
This survey targeted institutions subject to management evaluation (a total of 226 nationwide water and sewage utilities) and was conducted from July 24 to October 4 last year. Using a structured questionnaire, telephone interviews were conducted with 200 customers each from the general residents who use water supply and sewage services. The evaluation items consisted of ▲service environment ▲service process ▲service outcome ▲social satisfaction ▲overall satisfaction, and more.
As a result of the survey, the overall satisfaction with Geochang County's water and sewage business showed a significant increase compared to the previous year. The sewage sector jumped from third to first place within Gyeongnam Province, and the water supply sector also rose from sixth to third place.
The main factor behind the increased satisfaction in the water supply sector was the introduction of an automatic remote metering system, which enabled real-time monitoring, allowing for quick responses to indoor leaks and pipe freezing. Proactive guidance and promotional activities for preventing pipe freezing also improved convenience for residents.
Additionally, continuous service quality improvements, such as excellent water quality, replacement of old water supply pipelines, and the implementation of the smart water supply network system for local waterworks, have increased social satisfaction.
In the case of sewage, the reduction of backflow and flooding incidents and the improved speed of handling civil complaints have greatly enhanced service reliability. In particular, improvements in sewage facilities have led to better water quality and reduced odors, significantly increasing resident satisfaction.
County Governor Koo Inmo stated, "This result is due to the active administration of our staff despite difficult circumstances, and the fact that our satisfaction ranking rises every year is especially meaningful," adding, "We will continue to work hard to further strengthen the trust of residents in our water supply and sewage services."
Meanwhile, last year the county achieved a water supply rate of 84.6%, ranking first among counties in Gyeongnam Province, saving 1.09 million tons of water and contributing to an annual budget reduction of 2.5 billion KRW.
