At this event, about 10 members of the Women's Association distributed bread and roses to around 200 citizens visiting Gumi Station, widely promoting the significance of International Women's Day.

They emphasized the importance of protecting women's rights and spreading a culture of gender equality, and distributed promotional materials to build social consensus for solving the low birth rate problem.

Shin Kyungeun, President of the Gumi City Women's Association, said, "I hope gender equality will naturally take root in families, workplaces, and throughout society, as this will have a positive impact on individuals' lives and happiness," and added, "I hope this campaign will be the first step towards creating a society where everyone is respected."

Min Myungsook, Director of the Family Policy Division of Gumi City, stated, "The spread of a culture of gender equality is closely related to population growth," and added, "Gumi City will actively support the establishment of a gender-equal culture in families, workplaces, and the local community."

Meanwhile, International Women's Day commemorates the event in 1908 when about 15,000 female workers in New York, USA, demanded voting rights and labor rights, calling out for "bread and roses." In 1975, the UN declared it the "International Women's Year" and designated March 8 as the official day of commemoration.
