Pohang City held a completion report meeting for the 'Jukdo Market Global Welcome Complex Center Construction Research Service' at the City Hall small conference room on the 10th.

The completion report meeting was attended by the implementing agency Hangil, relevant department officials, advisory committee, and evaluation committee, who reviewed the final results of the research service and discussed future plans.
In line with the 2024 government policy direction to foster global traditional markets, the city has been promoting the 'Jukdo Market Global Welcome Complex Center' research service since last year to create a complex cultural space embracing Pohang's history, culture, and traditional market.
The research service comprehensively analyzed the necessity of establishing a Welcome Complex Center that offers visitor information services for both domestic and international visitors, as well as exhibitions, cultural events, and experiences all in one place.
In addition, the need and justification for constructing the Welcome Complex Center as an intermediate hub for major tourist attractions such as the convention center, Space Walk, and Haksan Stream in Buk-gu, and Homigot and Guryongpo in Nam-gu, were established, accelerating the future progress of the project.
The city plans to provide systematic, visitor-tailored services to the millions of domestic and international visitors to Jukdo Market each year through the construction of the Welcome Complex Center, and to strengthen the competitiveness of traditional markets by responding to digital transformation and changing consumer trends.
Furthermore, the city aims to attract visitors and connect tourism resources by building a landmark complex center in the region, striving to become a global premium market.
Mayor Lee Kangdeok said, "If a complex visitor center is built at Jukdo Market, one of Pohang's popular tourist destinations, we expect significant economic ripple effects, including revitalizing the local tourism industry, boosting the old city center's commercial district, and creating jobs."
Based on the results of this research service, Pohang City will continue to consult with the central government, including the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, and will actively support and promote the establishment of the Jukdo Market Global Welcome Complex Center.
