The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced on the 11th that it will collect public opinions for two weeks to establish the '2040 Seoul Urban Landscape Plan.'

Collecting Seoul Citizens' Opinions on the '2040 Seoul Urban Landscape Plan'

This public opinion collection will take place from the 11th to the 24th. It focuses on evaluating Seoul's urban landscape, diagnosing major issues, and setting directions for landscape development in line with the changing urban environment. The city plans to concretize the future vision of the '2040 Seoul Urban Landscape Plan' and prepare systematic urban landscape management measures.

The landscape plan is a comprehensive plan to preserve natural landscapes, historical and cultural landscapes, and urban landscapes, improve damaged landscapes, and create new landscapes with unique characteristics. It is a statutory plan under the Landscape Act, including landscape management through inducive methods as well as regulatory methods.

This plan is the third statutory landscape plan since the first one was established in 2009 and will replace the 2016 landscape plan. As urban spatial conditions change, Seoul aims to reorganize them through the '2040 Seoul Urban Landscape Plan.'

Public opinion collection will be conducted on the online citizen participation platform 'Sangsangdaero Seoul,' and any Seoul citizen can participate. The lottery results will be announced on the Sangsangdaero Seoul website on April 8.

Through this public opinion collection, Seoul plans to establish landscape policies that resonate with citizens and prepare more systematic landscape management measures. In addition to citizens, an in-depth survey on landscape awareness targeting overseas visitors will also be promoted.

Jo Nam-jun, head of the Urban Space Headquarters of Seoul, said, "Landscape is not just a superficial element of the city but an important factor that determines citizens' quality of life and the city's competitiveness. Diverse opinions from citizens are essential to strengthen Seoul's identity and create a sustainable urban environment. Seoul will continue to communicate with citizens and develop urban landscape policies more effectively."
