Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries Seizes Two Chinese Fishing Vessels Illegally Operating in the South Sea

Two Chinese fishing vessels illegally operating in our waters were caught by our government authorities.

The Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries announced on the 10th that it seized two Chinese fishing vessels that violated regulations related to entering our waters.

The 98-ton Chinese fishing vessels A and B, seized by the National Fisheries Guidance Ship under the Southern Fisheries Management Unit, are suspected of violating prohibited size regulations by catching fish smaller than the regulated size, such as sand lance.

The Southern Fisheries Management Unit is conducting an investigation at the seizure site and plans to impose penalties such as bail according to relevant laws.

Kang Do-hyung, Minister of Oceans and Fisheries, stated, "Recently, Chinese fishing vessels have been engaging in illegal fishing by catching juvenile fish with the aim of catching more fish," adding, "We will strongly crack down on illegal Chinese fishing vessels to protect our fishery resources and fishermen, and do our best to safeguard our fishery resources."
