Amid a growing Tesla boycott movement in the United States, Elon Musk, Tesla's CEO, has pointed to billionaire George Soros, a major Democratic donor, and LinkedIn co-founder Reid Hoffman as being behind the movement.
According to Fox News and others on the 9th (local time), Musk revealed on his X (formerly Twitter) account, "The investigation found five ActBlue-funded organizations leading the 'Tesla protests.'"
He also claimed that donors to ActBlue include Soros and Hoffman. ActBlue is a donation platform for Democratic politicians and progressive groups. Kamala Harris's former vice-presidential campaign fundraising was also conducted through ActBlue.
He added, "ActBlue is currently under investigation for violating recent election finance regulations by allowing foreign and illegal donations," and "This week, seven senior officials, including ActBlue's deputy legal counsel, resigned." He also said, "Please reply if you have any information."
Musk's political activities, including his involvement with the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), have sparked backlash, intensifying the Tesla boycott movement. Online, hashtags like #teslatakedown are being posted, and protests condemning Musk are taking place in front of Tesla stores across the United States.
According to the Associated Press, on the 7th, a Tesla store on the outskirts of Portland, Oregon, was shot at, resulting in damage to several vehicles and shattered windows. In Massachusetts, a Tesla charger was burned in a fire suspected to be arson.
